reddot.gif - 102 Bytes Welcome! To our newest "Life Member", Joseph "Joe" Arbaiza, Jr., MM2, Aboard 1952-54. Joe tells us he is planning to make the 2008 Reunion, so be sure to welcome him then to "Life Membership" status in our association.

reddot.gif - 102 Bytes John Wiest, father of Leanne Schlagel who is wife of Assoc. Pres. Gary Schlagel, passed away from complications from a massive coronary on May 8, 2008. Our sincere condolences to Leanne, Gary, friends and family.

"My father passed away at St. Josephs Hospital in Parkersburg, WV on October 21, 2006 from kidney failure." Our sincere sympathy to shipmate Gil's family and friends.

reddot.gif - 102 Bytes Association Secretary, Jim Shurmack, reported the details are shaping up for the 2008 Reunion. It will be held Oct. 8th through the 12th. Members planning to attend should reserve their rooms as soon as possible. The reunion will be held at the Embassy Suites San Antonio, nw I-10, 7750 Briaridge, San Antonio, Texas 78230. Banquet, entertainment, and a couple of tours are on the agenda. Members should login to the membership area for more details.

Also, members planning on coming are requested to fill out a survey posted in the membership area. If you have questions please contact Jim Shurmack .

reddot.gif - 102 BytesOur Sympathy goes to the family and friends of Gerald Poppenga, DC3, Aboard 1965-66, who passed away in 2007 from complications that appear to have been caused by Agent Orange. A court case came to a head on this matter.
reddot.gif - 102 Bytes Ship logs showed that the USS Kennebec, at the time period of December 7, 1965, was indeed sprayed with Agent Orange. For those who served aboard then, we will be posting more information on our website as it becomes available.
