First AO-36 Reunion Spawns Second
By all
accounts we have heard, the first ever all-hands Kennebec reunion went off with
nary a hitch. Some minor problems like an overflowing hospitality suite will be
easily solved the next time. One indication of the reunion was that the
membership in attendance voted overwhelmingly to hold the second reunion in
fall 2002. The Gold Coast Hotel and Casino treated us very well, but the 2002
reunion will probably be held on the East coast in order to make it easier for
our eastern shipmates to attend. Details will be forthcoming.
Silent Auction A Huge Success
The generosity
of the members and wives was in evident during the silent auction as a nice
variety of donated items was displayed amid active bidding. At the end of the
five hour auction period, the results were tallied and $859.00 was added to the
reunion coffers. Association members may view the original auction sheet with
the buyers names and winning amounts. Thank you to all who participated!
